This Quarter's Shining Star

We are proud to announce that Early Intervention Service Coordinator, Shannon Farrell, has been chosen as YAS' Employee of the Quarter!

Since Shannon joined the YAS team almost 2 years ago, she has shown a commitment to her work and the agency as a whole. She was initially hired as a Help Me Grow Home Visitor (HV), then voluntarily transitioned into a dual role as HV and Early Intervention Service Coordinator (SC) in Spring of 2016 to fill a need and help her team. As our program grew in July 2016, her role transitioned again and she began working full time as an SC. Throughout these changes, her quality of work remained high and she always stayed focused on her families. Each time her team has been in need, she has stepped up to get it done. She is a natural “go-to person” and can often be found offering support to others. Shannon is a strong advocate for her families and is never afraid to voice concerns or do more to make sure our littlest clients get the services and support they need. Shannon also consistently volunteers at YAS events, which demonstrates her commitment to the agency overall. We are thankful for her dedication and are happy to be able to recognize her hard work!

Congratulations on being YAS' October-December Employee of the Quarter, Shannon!

To get to know her a little more, we asked Shannon a few questions. Read her answers below...

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Findlay, OH.

Where did you go to college?

I attended The Ohio State University.

What three words best describe you?

If I were to describe myself in three words I would use: honest, talkative, and independent.

What aspect of your job do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy being able to see the difference my work has on children and families. There is nothing better than seeing a child with developmental delays develop new skills and improve their abilities.

What did you want to be when growing up?

A Veterinarian in the winter and a Boat Mechanic in the summer.

Before working at YAS, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

The most interesting job I had before YAS was working at the Schottenstein Center as an Usher. While it wasn’t unusual by any means, I did get to see a lot of free concerts and basketball games.

What are 3 words to describe YAS?

Supportive, Caring, and Welcoming.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

If given a chance to be someone else for a day, I’d choose Miranda Lambert. Mostly because she has a dog rescue and horses.

What advice do you have for recent YAS hires?

Ask questions. Everyone is very welcoming at YAS and always willing to answer questions.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy watching Ohio State Football, reading, and playing with my dog.

What is on your bucket list?

I would love to go skydiving again, go bungee jumping, and visit Ireland.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

Be Still.
